“A moment once experienced is lost and it is only recalled in a distorted fragment. This mirrors architecture’s passage through time within the fleeting nature of existence. In pursuit of the sublime, I explore the erosion and decay of memory through time and its effect on our physical reality. Dust is used as a symbol of time and memory representing the impermanence of its ephemeral nature. From dust it was created and to dust it returns.”
— Rachael Kingsford

Transforming the Artbox Truck into a living room; the Artbox Team will allow viewers to explore their own love of art, discover new artists and to be inspired to create their own home gallery. The exhibition will show works from our Artbox Collection and prospective commissions, with the aim of showcasing some of Melbourne’s established and emerging artists. .
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” – William Morris
The Artbox Team
Every month, the Artbox Team commissions an artist to produce a unique, limited-edition work that we distribute to our Art Club members. Our Club members pay a fixed monthly membership fee (that includes postage), to receive an artwork at the beginning of each month. Artbox Art Club makes contemporary art accessible and affordable, for everyone. We want to support art lovers like you, as well as the artists who produce the art.

MOMENTUM: IF YOU'RE NOT IN IT, YOU'RE OUT OF IT.
Sun, Aug 23 - Thu, Sep 24, 2015
Clement Meadmore Gallery
Clement Meadmore Gallery
Like Joey Ramone says; if you're not in it, you're out of it.
Movement, momentum and action are key to generating dynamism in art. This exhibition will expand and contract according to each artist's momentum as the gallery space becomes a living organism over time.
Momentum: if you're not in it, you're out of it is an experimental exploration of the impact of installation to the essence of an artwork and exhibition. In embracing the opportunity to manipulate the installation process, the artists in this exhibition will develop and change its configurations throughout its duration within the galley space.
These artworks will be in constant flux, for both creator and viewer. Through exercising creative control and introducing elements of chaos, Momentum: if you're not in it, you're out of it highlights the experiential aim of the artists. Through this we wish to invite the audience to step into the game with us, challenge their expectations, and recognise differences in time as work evolves and changes before their eyes.
This collective of artist group show that will be displaying a range of works in paper cut out, weaving, stop motion animation, installation, painting, lino prints, sculpture, dust stenciling, digital illustration, and projection. The artworks will be reinstalled 3 times, to shift the momentum and challenge our recognition of what an exhibition is.
Artist: Anna Beadle, Beck Tomlinson, Belinda Neilson, Claire Tobin, Deniz Yilmaz, Emma Johnson, Greta Winter, Jade Marshall, Michelle Brown, Rachael Kingsford and Sarah Johnson.

A flâneur is a stroller, a loiterer, someone who ambles without apparent purpose but is attuned to the history of the streets that they walk, involved in a covert observation of their surroundings. In 2014, Rachael Kingsford was given the opportunity to travel to Europe as part of a scholarship for the Academy of Design, exploring the streets of Paris and London as that of the flâneur. Kingsford exhibited a solo show at the Clement Meadmore Gallery featuring works that were directly inspired during this tour abroad.
