A flâneur is a stroller, a loiterer, someone who ambles without apparent purpose but is attuned to the history of the streets that they walk, involved in a covert observation of their surroundings. In 2014, Rachael Kingsford was given the opportunity to travel to Europe as part of a scholarship for the Academy of Design, exploring the streets of Paris and London as that of the flâneur. Kingsford exhibited a solo show at the Clement Meadmore Gallery featuring works that were directly inspired during this tour abroad. Photographed by Anthony Broughton
